Okay, I lifted this idea from another blogger because it was cool….I hope you enjoy it.
1. I was a bald baby until I was almost 2 years old.
2. I was born with congenital hip dysplasia in my left hip.
3. I wore a full body plaster cast until I was almost 1year old, then a brace.
4. The March of Dimes helped pay for my medical treatment. I still support them today.
5. You would never know this unless I told you as all my x-rays are normal.
6. I got my first bike when I was 5. I never used training wheels.
7. It was yellow with orange and red flowers and a banana seat.
8. I loved that bike.
9. My favorite toy was my portable record player.
10. I had The Bee-Gees on 45.
11. My mom turned me on to Bob Dylan, Bonnie Rait, Rita Coolidge and Nicolette Larson.
12. I’m still a huge Bob Dylan fan.
13. I have seen him perform twice. The first time he was okay, the second, amazing.
14. I was fortunate enough to see the Greatful Dead before Jerry died.
15. I was a tomboy.
16. In first grade I was the armwrestling champion of my class.
17. I wore a dress the day I won.
18. My first crush was on Aaron Doobie in second grade.
19. I used to chase him at recess, pin him down and kiss him.
20. He wasn’t fond of me for said reasons.
21. I was adopted when I was 8 years old.
22. My dad is an amazing man.
23. He taught me that it’s okay to laugh at yourself once in awhile,and what a good man looks like.
24. My mother taught me how to survive and take a stand for what you believe in.
25. I was a bookworm as a child.
26. I read The Chronicals Of Narnia like 4 times each.
27. At age 11, I used to buy X-Men comics and read them late at night so my parents wouldn’t find out.
28. Wolverine is still my favorite superhero.
29. I skipped 5th grade because my mom thought I should. (Go Mom!)
30. It helped that I had been in private school.
31. In junior high I met my husband, but didn’t know it then.
32. He was my first kiss.
33. He was the first boy to tell me that he loved me.
34. Something stuck. 22 years later, I love him more than ever.
35. I went to Mexico in 9th grade on a mission trip.
36. We worked in an orphanage for a week, and visited a homeless camp.
37. I prayed for a baby that was clearly very ill, and then I cried for a long time.
38. It was the first time I understood what poverty was.
39. When we got back on our bus one girl said she couldn’t wait to have some ice cream.
40. I almost slapped her.
41. I learned the meaning of “it is better to give than recieve”, but I’m still not as thankful as I should be.
42. I was Junior Class President, an Honor Society member, and royalty court my Junior and Senior Prom.
43. No, I did not keep the tiara or sash or pin. I still have my graduation tassel though.
44. My favorite poem is The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Elliot
45. I played soccer for a few years, but quit to work and pay for college.
46. I have a BSN degree from Case Western Reserve.
47. Nursing has served me well, and taught me how to serve others.
48. Cleveland was a culture shock for me, but I have fond memories now.
49. I miss having four real seasons, especially Autumn.
50. My best friend Jeni, I’ve known since third grade.
51. She always makes me smile.
52. As kids, we sang Dr. Demento songs at her birthday once, which cracks me up when I think about it.
53. I am blessed to still have her, and several other good friends in my life.
54. Each one of them offers me balance and perspective and fills a space in my heart just perfectly.
55. I re-charge by being alone mostly, or sharing time with friends.
56. I am a walker. I like to walk. Fast.
57. My husband likes to saunter. I call it the “Schweizer Saunter”. It’s maddening to me.
58. We will probably be working on the “right pace” for the rest of our lives.
59. I have two amazing boys.
60. I didn’t mind being pregnant, but I did not love it like some women do.
61. My pregnancy glow was a hormonally induced oil slick that covered my face for months.
62. I gained over 45 lbs with each of them.
63. Giving birth the first time was stressful. The second was easy.
64. My body is a little tweaked now, but it serves me still, and I am grateful.
65. Being a mom is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, by far.
66. It’s challenging and rewarding, and filled with surprises and delights and a lot of repititious work.
67. I rarely feel successful at it; there is always room for improvement.
68. Potty training boys is not fun if you have bathroom cleanliness issues.
69. I have them.
70. Sometimes I catch my kid resting is head on the toilet seat because he doesn’t want to lift it all the way.
71. I pretty much have a cow on the spot.
72. The best sound in the world is my children’s laughter.
73. The worst is my youngest’s “I’m-not-quite-awake” moaning at 5 am.
74. I try to let each boy be their own person; you know, after handwashing and manners of course.
75. I yell more than I should.
76. It’s something I’m working on.
77. The Domestic Diva in my enjoys doing dishes and laundry.
78. She hates dusting and cleaning toilets.
80. I make my bed every morning.
81. My kids will do chores as I did. I believe in communal effort.
82. I am a passable cook.
83. I prefer to bake.
84. Making bread is my therapy. I like the process, the evolution, the wait, the smell, everything.
85. I’d rather be cold than hot. It’s easier to put on a sweater or snuggle than sit under a noisy fan.
86. The only thing I collect is Frankoma Pottery-Prairie Green glaze.
87. I have a penchant though for little birds and ironwork.
88. My idea of heaven is a mountain top, a blue sky and the imeasurable sound of solitude around me.
89. I hope to always live near mountains and water, but mountains are essential.
90. I came back to Alaska for the mountains of my youth.
91. Anchorage is not the best city, and I love it just the same.
92. Teaching my son to read has been one of the hilights of my life.
93. When I was young I wanted to be a truck driver or a farmers wife.
94. God had other things in mind.
95. My favorite color is green.
96. My green eyes turn yellow in the cold, or when I get upset.
97. I used to think crying was a weakness.
98. Now, I enjoy it when it comes.
99. I’m a romantic at heart.
100. To love, and be loved in return, is the absolute best thing this life has to offer.
